Difference Between Ayurveda & Western Medicine

Ayurveda and Western allopathic medicine are different.

Western medicine currently specialise in symptomatology and disease, and primarily uses drugs and surgery to rid the body of pathogens or diseased tissue.

It is important to know that surgery originated in Ayurveda.

Ayurveda doesn't specialise in disease. Rather, Ayurveda focuses on maintaining the life energies in balance. When there's any stress and the flow of energy within an individual gets imbalanced. Ayureveda relies on the body’s natural defense systems to be strong and defend against disease.

 

Ayurveda is often utilized with Western medicine to make an individual stronger and boost immunity against afflictions and/or to rebuild the body.

We all have times once we don’t feel well, but a doctor tells us that there's nothing wrong. It is this imbalance that's yet recognizable as a disease. Yet it's serious enough to cause discomfort

Ayurveda takes this energy imbalance into account and helps improve our overall well being through immunity boost and help our body become strong to fight the problems arising within our body.

Evaluation and Treatment of Imbalances

Ayurveda employs various techniques for assessing health. An ayrvedic doctor or vaidaya practitioner evaluates key signs and symptoms of illness, in reference to the origin and reasons for an imbalance. A vaidya also takes into consideration the patient’s suitability for various treatments. The practitioner arrives at diagnosis through questioning, observation and a physical exam.

Basic techniques such heart beat rates, observing the tongue, eyes and physical form; and taking note of the tone of the voice are employed during an assessment in Ayurveda.

Palliative and cleansing measures, when appropriate, are used to help eliminate an imbalance. Ayurveda also takes the cause of imbalances into account, and treatments try to remove the imbalances.

Ayurveda doctors recommend changes in lifestyle, starting and maintaining a suggested diet. Herbs are used as part of the dietary supplements to maintain the balances in the body constitution. In some cases, a body cleansing is done to assist the body rid itself of toxins.

Ayurveda addresses all aspects of life — the body, mind and spirit. It recognizes that each person is unique. Understanding and knowledge of Ayurveda presents a huge wealth of information on how human health can be attained through various aspects of body constituents and energies.
